The Firefox browser is one of the most powerful browsers. In fact, Mozilla Firefox was very popular even before the introduction of Google Chrome. Recently, Firefox was deconcentrated until they introduced Firefox Quantum. Meanwhile, Firefox also has one of the best collections of browser extensions. The ability to search all Firefox and Chrome tabs simultaneously helps users easily browse the content.

Previous Firefox users could search multiple tabs using extensions such as Findbar Tweak and Tabby2. However, support for these extensions was discontinued starting with Firefox 57.

In this post we will see how you can search all your open tabs in the Firefox and Chrome browsers.

Multi Tab Search is one of the first web extensions that allows users to search all Firefox tabs simultaneously. The extension can be installed from here. After installation, a search bar appears on the left side of the browser. This extension appears automatically, and I couldn’t find a button to turn it on or off.

This means that you can use the menu bar view menu by pressing the Alt key and also use other key combinations such as Ctrl+B to open the sidebar. First enter the search term in the search bar. After scanning all open tabs, the results are displayed in the’Multi-Tab Search’ menu. The tool systematically separates the search results and displays the results with the favicon and the page title. You can also interact with the page using the Multi Search tab tools. Use the button to reload, close a tab, or even delete and restart the current results.

On a related note, you can simply click on the search results to go directly to that particular tab. Other functions include an option to refine the results by enabling other parameters such as upper and lower case, whole word and search term highlighting. Users can also switch to a title or URL mode that also includes private navigation tabs in the results. However, the extension only searches for pages that are loaded.

It is amazing how small extensions like these add a whole new dimension of functionality to browsers. I have used a number of extensions for my Chrome and Firefox browsers. The multi-tab Search is particularly useful in scenarios where you want to search all tabs without having to open and search each tab individually.

Search all open tabs in chrome

If you are a Google Chrome user and you want to search multiple tabs like Firefox, you are lucky. The Search Plus Extension offers similar features and is available in the Google Chrome online store. The extension is a great help if you want to perform a mass search without having to browse each open web page. I have used this extension in the last few days, but the performance has been mediocre.

This extension is not as good as the Firefox browser. If you have more tabs open, the extension fails completely and sometimes the Chrome browser crashes. I also noticed that this extension does not work in the different browser windows and that all tabs are needed in the same window. Despite all the drawbacks, Search Plus is one of the few multi-tab search extensions for Chrome browsers. Personally, I hope that enlargement will continue to be improvised and that functionality will be established once and for all.

If you wish to recommend extensions, please do so in the comments.
