The display of photos under Windows has not been very good so far. The Windows Photo Viewer, the standard application for displaying photos when browsing a folder in the File Explorer, did its job well, but was by no means feature rich. Things changed with the release of Windows 10. A new application has been introduced – Photos App with many editing and sharing functions.

File sharing with Windows 10 Photos App

The photo application includes a variety of editing options to enhance your photos/images, from automatic corrections to advanced adjustments. Once the edition is finished, you can share it with your friends and family without leaving the application.

Sharing image files directly from the File Explorer can be very convenient and Windows 10 makes it easy. To share photos, videos and panoramas, you need to consider certain points.

First of all, all photos and videos from the photo application can be shared with all applications available in the Sharing Charm, such as the email application. For files stored in OneDrive, you can send invitations that allow certain people to view the files or receive a link to share with others.

If you have access to Photos App, right-click files and folders to select them.

Click Share to open the Share sidebar. A click on the Share button in the File Explorer is hidden in the Share menu. It has the same three-point circle icon as in the Windows 8 charm bar. If you want to share with only one person or group, select Invite people. To share with an unknown group, select Get Link.

Share photos and videos from your image collection

In the Photos application, go to the folder containing the photos or videos you want to share. Depending on the type of file you want to share, different options are displayed in the Share menu Share. For example, if you have selected a folder and no file, the Share button will be grayed out and the Zip button will be available.

Press Win+H must not open the partition bar. To view it for individual files, right-click on the photo or video you want to share, and if you are using a mouse, move the mouse pointer to the top right corner of the screen, move the cursor down and click Share.

Click the service you want to share it with and follow the on-screen instructions.

Sharing list could include Twitter, Mail, Printer, Messaging, Facebook, OneNote, PicsArt, Dropbox, etc. The list depends on the applications you have installed on your Windows PC. So if you don’t see Facebook in your sharing list, install the official Facebook application and you’ll see it added.
