After much excitement when the Start menu and button in Windows 8 were removed, Microsoft returned the Start button in Windows 8.1. It was a sham. The Start button was nothing more than a hotspot to switch from the desktop screen to the Metro screen. Of course, there was also a WinX menu, which was also transferred to Windows 10. I’ll talk about it now, but first let’s see how the Start menu works on Windows 10.
Start Menu in Windows 10: How does it work?
The Windows 10 Start menu has been developed with touch users in mind. That’s why there are living tiles. But it was not necessary to include huge icons in the menu, not even to touch it. People can successfully bet on smaller items and do their job.
In other words, the boot menu is not like Windows XP and Windows 7 It does the job – and even better
It is divided into two parts left and right (we call it that to explain it more easily). The left part is the main part that contains all the elements of your computer. You must click All Applications to view the articles. This is exactly like All programs in Windows 7, but goes further by integrating the Control Panel, PC settings and management tools into the menu.
The left part is scrollable so you can scroll through all the items on your hard disk and the admin items. You can use the mouse wheel or simply scroll the screen when you touch the device. The articles are sorted alphabetically. The first part of the Start menu – left is The most used programs followed by Recently installed programs. The All Items option also displays New if you have new programs installed.
The right part (to the right of the red line I drew in the image above) is where the objects can be attached. And you can change the position, shape and size of the symbols. There is nothing else to do if you are not creative and do not think of something to share with us.
Customizing the Start menu
When it comes to customizing the Start menu, you have many options. You can pin items on the right side of the Start menu and change the size and location of shortcuts and much more. The left part – All elements – can be adjusted by drag-and-drop to store them, but the staff is limited to alphabetical order. You can right-click the menu item and click Pin To Start. When the touch device is turned on, press and hold until the context menu appears. The right side elements can be scaled small, medium, large and wide as in Windows 8.1. Some items are only available in small and medium sizes. You can also turn off the powered tiles to save processor power.
Actually, there are things you can change in Start. You must click Customize in the Start menu settings.

Start menu WinX menu: You cannot customize it
As I said, one of the Windows 8.1 features has been transferred to Windows 10. And this is the WinX menu of the Start button. From this menu, you can quickly access the Control Panel or its elements, turn off your computer, etc. Among other useful keyboard shortcuts, you will also find Run and Command Prompt.
Is the starting menu good or bad? 12)
The first impression was not so good, because I had to face huge icons. But when I was working on the operating system, I started to like it. I can have large icons in the right panel instead of going through the list of all programs. The list of frequently used programs and the list of recently used items also helps me save time that I would otherwise have spent finding programs, applications or data files.
