If you try to update your Windows 10 machine but receive a message We were unable to connect to the update service, we will try again later, or you can check now if this does not work, make sure you are connected to the Internet Here are some things you might try to fix the problem.

Although this problem occurs primarily when you do not have a valid Internet connection, it may occur for no reason. If you click the Repeat button, you will get the same error on your screen.

1] Run Windows Update Troubleshooting

Open Windows settings > Update & Security > Troubleshooting. Microsoft has solved several problems with your computer on this page. You can use the various troubleshooting tools to solve various problems. You will find below the troubleshooting of Windows Update Troubleshooter. Click the Start button .

A window opens and you must follow the instructions on the screen.

2] Internet connection troubleshooting

Make sure you have a valid Internet connection. If you are not sure, try opening a web page in any browser and see if the page is loading. Then open the same Troubleshooter page in Windows Preferences and launch Internet Connections Troubleshooter. It will try to solve all problems related to your Internet connection. If you think you have no problems with your Internet connection, but Windows Update still displays an error, you can also try changing your Internet connection.

3] Restart the Windows Update Service

Search for services in the taskbar. Open the Service Manager window and discover the Windows Update service . Double-click to open the Properties field. The status is either running or stopped.

When stopped, click the Start button .

While it is running, you must click Stop and the Start button to restart the service.

Make sure the following services also work:

  • Remote procedure call
  • Background intelligent transmission service.

4] Reset Windows Update components

If nothing helps, you may need to reset Windows Update components and see if it works for you.
