These x86 applications now run on an emulation layer. This emulation layer works like magic to invent everything. Code for Kernal, drives and other inbox programs such as Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Store, Calculator, Camera and other preinstalled applications are written for ARM. Other x86 applications like Adobe Photoshop or 7-zip run with a custom Microsoft emulator called WOW or Windows on Windows. And for x86 DLLs, Compiled Hybrid PE or CHPE is used to convert x86 code to ARM64. That makes all the magic possible. When can we expect these devices to be available on the market?
We have seen new devices from partners like HP and Asus. HP called it Envy x2, which is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and has a 2-1 surface design. This device should be available from spring 2018 to summer 2018. You can learn more about these devices at windowsbulletin.com.
