The causes of the error may be numerous, but we can reduce it to three basic causes :

  1. Incorrect MBR configuration: The most common reasons for an incorrect MBR configuration are write errors and virus attacks. To some extent, it can be solved by troubleshooting at the software level without changing the hard disk.
  2. Wrongly configured partition table: If the partition table is not configured correctly, this problem can still be solved at the software level.
  3. The problem could be with the physical hard disk itself.

1] Start Check disk from command prompt

Since the computer does not boot, we must solve the problem with Advanced Options.

After starting, click Command Prompt on the Advanced Options menu.

Once the command prompt is open, execute the following command :

chkdsk C : /f /x /r

In this C path is your root drive. That could change if it’s different.

If it finds and corrects the problems, you will receive an error report. Otherwise, it would display the message Windows scanned the file system and found no problems. In this case, proceed to the next step.

(2) Repair Master Boot Record

As the previous case was isolated, the problem could be at the level of Master Boot Records (MBR). Sometimes Master Boot Records can be damaged. Although this is a serious problem, it can be solved. You must repair the main boot record.

3] Updating the system BIOS

Well, it’s tricky, and you don’t know it, don’t try it. Updating the BIOS can cause problems if it is done wrong – but at the same time it is known to solve such problems. Then update the BIOS on your Windows system. You may need to download the BIOS from the manufacturer’s website and create a CD/DVD for the process. If the problem persists despite the BIOS update, we can assume that there is a problem with the hardware.

4] Hardware check

This may require temporary removal of the hard disk and must be performed by someone with computer hardware.

  1. Remove the hard disk and connect it to another system. Check if you can access the files and folders. If the system reads the hard disk, please scan it using recovery tools and perform an antivirus scan.
  2. If you have reason to believe that the hard drive is working properly when connected to another system, you can replace the hard drive cables or perhaps even the connection ports.
  3. Replace RAM. Or, if you have 2 RAM modules in the system, try swapping their slots. Wipe the dust off these chips, too, in case it bothers you.
  4. In case of overheating of the flue gases from the hardware, please take the machine immediately to a hardware technician.

If the above solutions do not work, we may need to send the system to a hardware technician for repair.

Best wishes!
