We often all want to close the laptop, but not by turning it off – so we use the sleep option. This way, you can wake up your system immediately instead of rebooting it, which takes longer. For security reasons, Windows prompts you by default to enter the user account password each time you wake up your system. We have already seen how to disable the sleep login function in Windows 8/7. In Windows 8.1, you can also disable the need for a password on waking from the’PC Settings’ screen and log in automatically. In the Windows 10 menu, open Settings > Accounts > Login options. Here under Login required, drop-down menu, you will see 2 options :

If you are using Windows 8.1, follow these steps :

1 Press Windows + I on your keyboard to display the Settings charm. Click Change PC settings below.

2 In the next screen, which is displayed at the exit of the step above, click Accounts in the left pane.

3 Click Logon Options on the left side of the next screen :

4 The title Password Policy is displayed on the right side of the screen above, allowing you to enter Password when you wake this PC from sleep mode after clicking Change.

You can now restart the device for the changes to take effect. That’s it! That’s it!

Automatic connection of Windows 10/8.1 after falling asleep with the registry

1 Press the Windows key + R combination, enter Regedt32.exe in the Run dialog box and press Enter to open the registry editor.

2 Navigate to next location :

HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop

3 The right pane of this slot contains one DWORD named DelayLockInterval, whose value data is set to 1. Double-click on the same DWORD to modify its value data:

4 Enter the value data (16) as 0 so that your system does not ask for the password when you wake up. Click OK. You can now close and restart the Registry Editor (16) to observe the changes. That’s it! That’s it!
