In the Start menu, open Windows 10 Settings, select System, then click Storage to open the next window.

Here you see your drives listed with the storage space used under Local Storage. Select the drive you want more information about the type of files stored and the space they use.

To delete temporary unnecessary files, scroll down to Temporary Files and click the option. The following window opens.

The options available to delete four different types of temporary files are listed. Select Delete Files to clean up unwanted files. Depending on what is available for deletion, you will see the following options for cleaning four file categories from your hard disk:

  1. Temporary files
  2. Download folders
  3. Download folders
  4. Empty recycle bin
  5. Previous version of Windows

Please note that the file cleaning option will not appear on your computer screen if there is no previous version of Windows on your system.

Select the files to delete and press button Delete Files.
