Many users have problems with the ASUS Smart Gesture installer. Asus Smart Gesture is a small utility that controls touchpad functions like Smart Gesture. Unfortunately, it is not included in the Windows 10 installer. This guide will show you how to install the Asus touchpad driver for Windows 10.
After upgrading to Windows 10, my Asus laptop had a lot of problems. Common complaints are malfunctioning multitouch touchpad gestures and reverse scrolling. This is because the Asus Smart Gesture (OEM driver) currently installed on your laptop is not compatible with your new operating system.
Run the driver installation file as administrator
Users reported that they cannot install the Asus Smart Gesture driver on Windows 10. However, you can easily fix this issue by running the installer file as administrator.
To do this, locate the installation file, right-click on it and select “Run as administrator” from the menu.
Reset Asus Smart Gesture
You can easily fix your problem by resetting your Asus touchpad driver to default settings. Follow these steps:
Step 1. Go to the search bar and open the control panel.
Step 2: Now open Programs and Features and search for Asus Smart Gesture. And double tap to open it.
Step 3: Now all you have to do is click Set everything as default.
Step 4: Restart your computer and see if it works fine.
Download Touchpad Synaptics instead
If you can’t install Asus Smart Gesture driver on Windows 10, users recommend installing Synaptics touchpad driver instead.
As a result, Synaptics Touchpad for Windows 8.1 works fine on Windows 10. However, be sure to download the Windows 10 version if available.
Alternatively, some users suggest installing Sentelic drivers instead.
Run compatibility test
Another way to fix the problem is to run a compatibility test on the installer. Windows will analyze the application to see if there are any compatibility issues. If they are, the operating system will try to fix them and allow you to run the installer and driver. This was reported by a user facing a similar problem. This is also pretty easy to do. Follow the instructions below:
- First of all, right-click the installer and choose Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab in the Properties window.
- Once on the Compatibility tab, click on Run Compatibility Troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.
- This may take a few minutes, so be sure to wait.
- After that, you will be prompted to run the program again.
- Otherwise, just start the program manually.
- Check if this solves the problem.
