NMI_HARDWARE_FAILURE error has code 0x00000080 This blue death error screen indicates that a hardware malfunction has occurred. A large number of hardware malfunctions can cause the NMI_HARDWARE_FAILURE BSOD error. The exact cause is difficult to determine.
NMI stands for Non-Maskable Interrupt, which is a hardware error that leads to a blue screen error after installing new hardware or software.
Here are some applicable solutions to correct this BSOD error NMI_HARDWARE_FAILURE (Error 0x80).
Disconnect newly connected hardware
This error can be caused by newly installed hardware such as a sound card, graphics card and hard disk. Remove or replace it. Then restart your computer to see if it works.
Update all device drivers
Incompatible and obsolete device drivers (especially display drivers) generally cause different blue screen errors and can lead to this nmi BSOD hardware error. To correct NMI hardware errors, first update the drivers from the device manager. Or visit the device manufacturer to download and install the latest Windows PC driver software. Then reboot your PC. Uninstall the defective software and your antivirus software.

Note that recently installed software can also cause this type of error, and if you have installed or updated some software before this error occurs, be sure to uninstall it.

Many antivirus programs leave some registry entries and files after they are deleted, and these files can still cause BSoD errors. To completely remove the antivirus software, you must use a special uninstaller. Many security companies offer these tools for their software, so download them for your antivirus program.
Switching to Safe Mode on Windows 10
When you switch to safe mode on Windows 10, the operating system loads a minimal user interface that contains only the services and drivers needed to run it. That’s what it looks like:
- Use the system configuration tool (msconfig.exe).
- Use the combination “Shift + Restart”.
- Use the Settings application to access the recovery options.
- Boot from a recovery drive
- Use a Windows 10 installation drive and command prompt
- Interrupt the normal boot process of your Windows PC 10.
- F8 or Shift + F8 (does not work with BIOS & SSD UEFI)
