Although the official Twitter application for Mac no longer exists, the company continues to actively develop its TweetDeck client for the platform, and the Mac application is now receiving an update with a handful of new features and bug fixes. The release focuses on support for MacOS Mojave’s dark mode, which means the application now matches the rest of the operating system when in dark mode.
If you wish to use a custom theme, this is still possible. However, the dark mode will not be of much help, since TweetDeck is only a packaging for the web application.
The application will also be “rebuilt” to “fix many crashes” and will include better crash reports for faster bug fixes “in the future”.
What is TweetDeck?
TweetDeck is an online tool for managing Twitter accounts. It allows you to schedule your tweets and manage multiple Twitter accounts. But did you know that TweetDeck has a dark mode?
To Activate the Dark Mode on TweetDeck
- Go to TweetDeck.
- Go to tweetdeck.twitter.com in your web browser and connect with your Twitter account. If you’ve already registered, you don’t need to register again.
- Open the settings. In the page pane, click Settings and select Settings from the list.
- Enable the dark theme. Select the “Dark” option in the THEME section and click the “Done” button.
- That’s it! You can activate the light theme in the same way.
Dark Mode on Twitter
TweetDeck’s dark mode is independent from the dark mode of Twitter’s main site. You can activate the dark mode on Twitter by clicking on the triple dot icon on the left side and then clicking on “Show”.
Once you are in the Twitter display settings, you can choose between the “Standard” lighting mode and the “Dim” mode, which uses dark blue tones as background colors. You can also select the “Lights Off” mode, which uses a true black background. Unfortunately, this additional selection is not yet available for TweetDeck.
