Equalizer APO does not work? A common mistake you make is to forget to activate your reading device in EQ APO. The screensho shows that the AMD HDMI output is enabled, it is my favorite interface to send audio to the Surround Sound Processor. By activating it in this menu, we can be sure that the filters we have defined will be applied if our interface is supported.

What is Equalizer APO?

Equalizer APO is a parametric / graphic equalizer for Windows. It is implemented as an audio processing object (APO) for the system effects infrastructure introduced with Windows Vista. Features: – almost unlimited number of filters – works on any number of channels – very low latency, making it suitable for interactive applications – low CPU usage – modular graphical user interface: – Windows Vista or higher (currently only Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 have been tested) – Sound card drivers must support APO (this also applies to most embedded audio drivers) – The application must not bypass the system effects infrastructure (APIs such as the exclusive ASIO or WASAPI mode cannot be used) Equalizer APO is best used in conjunction with Room EQ Wizard.

Therefore, make sure that all the playback devices on which you want to perform processing are enabled and do not forget to restart your computer after installing Equalizer APO, otherwise it will not work. If you need to change these settings in the future, they will be available via C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\Configurator.exe or wherever you have installed the software.

To make sure that Equalizer APO is enabled on your audio output after the restart, go to C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\Editor.exe (or anywhere else you have installed the program). Besides, a trick is to create a shortcut for the EQ APO Editor on your desktop, because you will change your filters here.

Install as SFX/EFX

Although this is an experimental feature in the Configurator window, for many users, installing SFX/EFX has completely solved the problem, and we hope it will do you good. It’s very easy to do and it doesn’t cost anything to try it. Take a look at this below!

1. Open the Configurator program for Equalizer APO by searching for it in the Start menu. Click on the Start Menu button and start typing. Click on the first available result.
2. In the Playback Devices tab, select all the devices you want to use with the equalizer by checking the boxes next to them.
3. Check the box next to the troubleshooting options (to be used only in case of problems), click on the arrow to open the drop-down menu, then select Install as SFX/EFX (experimental) from the menu.
4. Apply the changes, close the Configurator and reopen Equalizer APO for it to work now!

Note: If this does not work, be sure to try to uncheck the checkboxes next to Use two original APO inputs in the troubleshooting options. It has helped other users, so make sure you try it!
