Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is the latest version of the Internet Protocol (IP), which is intended to complement and possibly replace Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). Nevertheless, many Internet services still use the old protocol. All devices that use the Internet, such as computers or mobile phones, need an IP address to communicate with other devices on the network. The number of users of Internet services is increasing every day, which is why IPv6 was created (more IP addresses available if IPv4 is overloaded).
You may have stumbled upon “IPv6 connectivity”: No problem accessing the Internet” and cannot access the Internet. This notification usually indicates that your computer is unable to meet the requirements of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and establish a working Internet connection. The problem often occurs if your current network equipment is not capable of communicating using Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) – only some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) allow this, or if your router is configured to use Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) instead of IPv6.

Causes of IPv6 Network Access Errors
When a device connects to the Internet, it receives one or more addresses on the network. Often a device receives both an IPv4 and an IPv6 address. IPv6 is a new network standard designed to allow a larger number of connected devices than the older, more widely used IPv4 protocol.
When properly configured, most devices work well when a network connection is established using at least one of these two protocols. Sometimes, however, a device connects and gets an IPv4 address instead of an IPv6 address. For example, when you look at the network connection details in Windows, your device may display a connection to an IPv4 network but show “No Internet Access” next to “IPv6 Connectivity”.
There are several reasons for this error. In most cases, the exact troubleshooting step that resolves the problem will reveal the cause.
Update your Network Drivers
The best way to update the drivers for your network is to go online to the manufacturer of your computer or device and download and install the drivers manually. For Dell users, you can download your drivers here. HP users can go here. You can also update your drivers over the Internet using the Device Manager. However, because your computer does not have an Internet connection, you can only use the first option.

- Click on “Support”, then on “Drivers and Downloads”.
- If you are visiting the site for the first time, you will see a screen to enter your service number. Otherwise, your browser’s cookies will show you the products you last visited. There are three ways to get your drivers. One is to use the service badge, the other is to automatically detect your system and the other is to manually search for your drivers. We will use the fastest method: the use of a service tag.
- Check the bottom of your laptop or the battery compartment. You should receive a sticker that says “Service Tag (S/N)”. Enter the 7-digit alphanumeric code on the support page of the Dell website and click “Submit”.
- Dell will then download the product associated with the service tag. From this page you can choose to automatically detect updates or find your drivers yourself. Click on the “Find It Yourself” tab.
- Expand the Network section and download your drivers. If the update does not run automatically, double-click it to run it. Follow the instructions to complete the installation and restart your PC.
Restart Winsock and the TCP/IP stack
Winsock reset is an effective way to solve the problem of IPv6 Internet access. This method requires that you use a high command prompt. Here is a complete guide.
- Type the command prompt in the search box, then right-click it and select Run as Administrator from the submenu.
- At the high prompt, type netsh winsock reset catalog command and press Enter.
- Type the netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log command and press Enter.
- Reboot your computer and verify that the IPv6 no network access windows 10 error is resolved. If this method does not work, continue with the following solutions.
Disable the IP Helper Service
- Simultaneously press the Windows logo key + the R key to open the Run field.
- Type services.msc in the field and press Enter to open the Services window.
- Scroll down the Services window and right-click the IP Helper service. Then click Properties.
- In the drop-down list, set the startup type to “disabled”. Then click OK to save the setting.
- Now right-click again on the IP Helper service in the Services window. This time, select Stop.
- Close the Services window and see if the error has been fixed.
