If you don’t know how to change the mail server settings used by Windows Live Mail, follow these instructions :

  • Open Windows Live Mail and make sure you are logged in to the email account that ends with the 0x800CCC6F error.
  • Then click File (at the top of the ribbon), and then click Options > Mail Accounts….
  • Once you are on the Accounts screen, select the problem account in the E-mail category, go to the right panel, and then click Properties.
  • On the Properties screen, select the Servers tab in the top bar, then replace the outgoing email (SMTP) with another address provided by the email you specified. Then select the My server requires authentication check box and click Settings.
  • If you are on the outgoing mail server, select the Use the same settings as for my incoming mail server check box and click OK to save the changes.
  • When you are back in the main properties window, select the Advanced tab and change the outgoing mail (SMTP) server to another port.
