Fonts play an important role in the design and usability of your website. There are several handy font research platforms that you can use to improve your designs. In this article, we’ll take a look at three automated online tools and compare their accuracy. We’ll also discuss some alternative methods that you can try as well.
How to tell a font from an image
Fortunately, fonts are much easier to identify on the Internet than on paper. If the font you’re looking for is used in live web text and not in an image, just use WhatFont, which is available as a bookmark, and an extension for Safari and Chrome. After installation, the extension adds a small letter “f?” The button to the left of your browser’s address field. Click the button, hover your mouse over the text and the font information will magically appear.
If you click any text while WhatFont is active, a font details window is added to that text. This area displays not only the name and size of the font, but also the alphabet and color of the font (as a hexadecimal value). You can also tweet what you find.
