Use of DISM
Windows 10 includes a sophisticated command line program known as Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM). The utility can be used to repair and prepare Windows images, including the Windows recovery environment, Windows configuration and Windows PE. DISM can also be used to repair the recovery image within an operating system installation and even maintain a virtual hard disk.
To execute the command, proceed as follows:
Use the Windows key + the X keyboard shortcuts to open the “Power User” menu and select “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
Enter the following command and press Enter :
DISM /Online /Cleaning image /CheckHealth
Using SFC Scan
SFC stands for System File Checker.
SFC is a DOS command that is usually used in conjunction with the SCANNOW switch, which is separated by a / sign. SFC /SCANNOW is used to automatically detect and correct corrupted or missing files in Windows 10.
To use the SFC command from Windows, an additional prompt must be opened. If a Windows 10 computer does not boot and you want to run the command externally, you must boot the computer with Windows 10 boot media and open the command prompt from there.
On the context menu, click Command Prompt (Admin).
In the User Account Control confirmation box, click Yes to confirm your action.
Wait until the administrator: The command prompt opens. Note: This is the advanced command prompt where you can execute all commands without restrictions.
At the administrator prompt: type SFC /SCANNOW and press Enter.
