At a time when most people prefer to download their multimedia content directly into the cloud, Microsoft prefers to connect phones to computers to synchronize content. Yesterday, we read about the Windows Phone Application for Desktop, which will be available soon. Today, we will see how to use it and what its parameters are.
The Windows Phone application for Windows 8 lets you see how much storage space you use on your device and how much storage space you need for each type of content (photos and music, etc.). Microsoft has also extended podcast support in the updated version of the application.

The Windows Phone application has a modern interface that highlights the art of albums and simplifies adding music and playlists from places on your PC. The application downloads automatically when you connect your phone to your computer or can be downloaded from the Windows store.
To add music or playlists
In the Windows Phone application, click Add Music.
Then click a folder to add specific songs.
Then click on the’Playlists’ folder and select the desired playlists.
Click each song individually if necessary. You will notice that all the files you select appear at the bottom of the application.
Then click Add. Once added, you are ready to sync.
Click Music in the Windows Phone application for the desktop. Make sure the Synchronize music check box is selected.
Then select all the playlists, genres, artists or albums you want to synchronize. To synchronize your entire music collection, select the Synchronize all music check box.
Then click Synchronize.
Synchronize podcasts
The procedure is similar to the one described above. In the Windows Phone App application for the desktop, click Podcasts.
Now select in the synchronization list how many episodes you want to synchronize and if you only want to synchronize unread episodes.
Select the Synchronize all podcasts check box if you want to synchronize all your podcasts.
Finally, click Synchronize.
To add ringtones
Click Ringtones in the Windows Phone application for the desktop.
Select a song you want to use as a ring tone on your phone, then click Add.
In your phone’s application list, tap Settings > Ringtones + Sounds.
In the Ringtones list, select the desired ring tone.
That’s it! Please note that some protected media files (DRM) cannot be copied or synchronized between your PC and your Windows phone.
For Windows Phone desktop application settings, such as automatically importing photos and videos from your phone to your computer, resizing images before adding them to your phone, converting videos before adding them to your phone and so on, see this page for more information.
