Just as the brain needs oxygen for memory, the computer needs RAM to continue working. It is very important for the central processing unit when it executes and stores the information necessary for the next use. Integrate Internet browsing into the image and the resolution can change. If you were using Google Chrome, you would have noticed that it uses much more memory than other browsers.

Chrome isolates each tab, plugin or extension you use in a different RAM process to prevent each process from writing to another. In the event of a crash, the entire browser remains stable without having to update the tab. The browser also performs a pre-rendering by predicting the best Google search result as your next visit, consuming memory.

How to repair chrome with so much crazy RAM.

So you know why Chrome uses so much RAM, and you know that sometimes it’s very good. But if it slows you down, you have two choices: reduce Chrome RAM consumption or buy more RAM for your computer.

The latter is very easy to do on a desktop computer (assuming you have the money), but much more difficult on laptops, where memory is often not scalable. So we have to use Plan B: sacrifice some amenities to save RAM.

Disable extensions

If you use extensions in the browser, they may increase the use of the browser’s memory, as all extensions require additional resources to operate. Therefore, in this step, we will disable the extensions to ensure that they do not cause massive memory usage. For that:

  2. Click on the menu button at the top right and select the “Settings” option.
  3. Click on the “Menu” option in the Settings option at the top left.

  5. This will open the list of extensions in a new tab, now make sure you disable them all by clicking on the “Disable” button.
  6. Restart your browser and check if the problem persists.

Check the use of your tab memory.

It is possible that you have too many tabs open on Chrome, or that some tabs consume your memory. You must check the memory usage of your tab page. To do that:

In your Chrome browser, press the Shift and Esc keys on your keyboard simultaneously.
Check the memory configuration for the memory consumption of the tabs.
If you want to close a tab (if you think it uses too much memory), click on it and then click Finish the process.

Restrict your Browsing

Although it is certainly great that you can open one hundred and twenty-five tabs simultaneously in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, it increases memory usage.

Normally, you do not interact with all the tabs open at each browser session. Closing the tabs in the browser frees up memory.

If you want to preserve a resource, bookmark it.

Installing the Data Saver extension

If your problem is more related to a bad Internet connection than a slow browser, you can help improve bandwidth by installing the Google Data Saver extension. This extension uses Google’s servers to compress and optimize web pages before they are sent to your browser.
