Segate Seatools for Windows is really easy to use. It allows Windows users to check the performance of their hard drives and evaluate their current state. The diagnostic tool performs several basic tests to help determine the state of the hard disk.
It can test all types of internal drives, including SCSI, PATA, SATA, etc. It can also test external drives (USB or FireWire). If the disc plays SeaTools for Windows, troubleshooting may continue in other areas.
To test the functionality of the software, simply download and install it on your Windows computer.
After starting and selecting the drive to be tested, a menu of possible diagnostic tests is displayed. With the exception of Long Generic, which offers the ability to repair sectors on external USB drives, all other basic tests are read-only tests with no data risk. Select the tests you want to perform. The test starts immediately.
These checks include:

– Short self-test: 20 to 90 seconds
– Long self-test: may take up to 4 hours, 10% increment

– Short Generic : three-part test
– Generic : long test : 1% step progress, sector repair option for external USB
– Advanced tests.
It is important to note that if the above procedure fails, you must replace the non-functional hard disk with a new one.
