Before trying any of these suggestions, check if your second monitor is properly powered or not. Simply plug in the power cord and check if it displays the manufacturer’s logo or display No signal. This allows you to confirm that your monitor is properly powered.

1] Check with another configuration

Check if your second screen works correctly with another computer or not. It is recommended to use the same HDMI port when connecting to another PC or device. This will ensure that the HDMI port is ready for use. You should also check the HDMI cable used to connect the second monitor to the Windows 10 laptop. If you use any type of converter, it is recommended to make sure that it works with another configuration.

2] Source detection

Even if you have configured everything correctly, your second display may not work if the source is not selected correctly. Almost all monitors have a similar option that determines whether the source is selected by the user or by the device itself. When set to Manual, check whether HDMI is selected or not. Alternatively, you can simply select the Auto mode.

3] Install, uninstall, reinstall display drivers

If your Windows 10 laptop has a dedicated graphics card, you may need to update the graphics drivers. You can also uninstall and reinstall the video driver.

4] Check the driver in compatibility mode

If your system still does not correctly recognize the video driver after reinstallation, you must check the driver in compatibility mode. To do this, download the driver you want to install and right-click it to select Properties. Now go to the Compatibility tab , check the box Run this program in compatibility mode for, select the desired operating system from the drop-down menu and click the Apply button .

5] Roll Back Driver

If you have this problem after updating your driver, you should reset it. Press Win + X and select Device Manager. After opening Device Manager, right-click the video driver > select Properties > go to tab Driver > click Roll Back Driver.

6] Change refresh rate

The monitor refresh rate is important when two monitors are connected to the same system. If the refresh rate of the two monitors is different, problems may occur during connection. So, if the second monitor is detected by the Windows 10 system but displays a blank screen, you should follow this suggestion. Press Win + I to open the Windows settings. Go to System > Display. Now select the second monitor on the right and click the option Show adapter properties .

Then go to tab Monitor and try changing the refresh rate.

Best wishes!
