If you are using Windows 10, you may know that Microsoft collects diagnostic data. With Windows 10 v1803, Microsoft has launched a new tool called Diagnostic Data Viewer, which allows users to know what diagnostic data has been sent from their computer to the Microsoft server.
Your computer sends diagnostic data such as information about installed software or applications, application workflow, hardware configuration and compatibility, installed drivers, etc. to Microsoft to improve usability. With the Diagnostic Data Viewer, you can now see what data Microsoft has collected from your computer.
Diagnostic Data Viewer on Windows 10
To start, you must enable the Diagnostic Data Viewer in the Windows 10 settings. To do this, open the Windows settings in Windows 10 v1803 and go to Privacy > Diagnostics & Feedback.
Scroll down on the right side until you get an option called Diagnostic data viewer. Click the Shift key to activate this function.
Click the Diagnostic Data Viewer button to open the tool in Microsoft Store. You must install this application on your Windows computer.
After application installation, you will see a window like this one –
This application has the following categories-
- Browser history
- Device connection and configuration
- Colouring and voice output
- Product and services
- Use of products and services
- Software configuration and inventory
You can check this data with this free application.

If you want to analyze the data on another computer, you can export the data in.csv format. Open the options by clicking on the hamburger menu on the left and select option Export Data .
You must select a path where you want to save the file and give it a name.
This application helps you verify the diagnostic data that your device sends to Microsoft and groups the information into simple categories based on how Microsoft uses it.
