Data is valuable to anyone surfing the Internet with a device every day. We know for sure that most people don’t have an unlimited data plan, so they need to be careful how they use their data to watch chat videos on Facebook. It’s never easy to keep things together, you know, track your use of data and everything related to it. But if you use a Windows 10 or Windows 10 Mobile device, it’s easy to manage your data usage. Let’s see how you can track and store or get 3G and LTE data on Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile and how you can save bandwidth and costs.
Maintaining 3G and LTE data usage under Windows 10
Let’s start with Windows 10 before the mobile option.
If you are on an LTE or 3G network, we recommend that you enable the Metered Connection. This can be done by starting the’Settings’ application under’Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Advanced Options > Set as measured connection’. Just turn the switch from Off to On and you’re ready to go.
This message further illuminates the connection setting measured in Windows 10 via Settings or Command Prompt.
The measured connection limits the number of applications connecting to the Internet. It works really well, so expect to save a few MB all day.
If you want to know how much data you use, return to the Wi-Fi area in the application settings and click Data Usage . This section provides an overview of the amount of data used over a 30-day period.
Click on Usage Details in the Data Usage section. As soon as everything is loaded, all relevant programs and applications for the Internet are listed and the amount of data used is displayed.
Backup 3G and LTE data to Windows 10 Mobile Phone
If you are a Windows 10 Mobile user, go to settings (16), then select Network & Wireless > Data Usage. Here the user can see how much data he has consumed, but it is also possible to set a data limit manually.
This function allows the user to add the duration of his data. The user can define how long the network will run the data. It can be 30 days, one-time or unlimited. Users can even set days manually. So, if you have a 3-day plan, choose 3 days and the amount of data for those 3 days.
Some users may wonder which applications use the most data. You can find out by clicking on Usage details under option Use data. A list of applications is loaded and they have the amount of data that is used next to them.
There is another way to back up data under Windows 10 Mobile. Simply turn off your 3G or LTE function when you’re not using it. It’s the safest way to keep it, believe us.
