Office 2016 comes with the Click To Run technology functionality with the online installer, and once the installer crashes, you will need to restart the installation from scratch. There is also no guarantee that the error will not be corrected when you start the reinstallation. So you must first solve the problem, then reinstall.
Depending on the error “Access Denied to Installation Source”, this is either the installation source or the directory where the installation is performed. Before starting a troubleshooting step, make sure that your system is fully installed with the latest Windows update. Then try these solutions to correct the Microsoft Office 30015-4 (5) error code on Windows 10/8/7.
Deleting third-party software
Remove third-party software, especially the security software you have installed on your PC. If you cannot perform step 3 above, try this:
- Run the msconfig command.
- Go to the Service tab and select Hide all Microsoft services.
- Then, disable all remaining services by disabling them, restarting them and trying to reinstall them.
Delete previous Office installations
Delete previous Office installations and their traces, if any. Here are the steps:

Disabling the firewall
It turns out that this particular problem can also be caused by an overprotective suite that terminates the connection between your locally stored Office application and external servers. In most cases, the connection is lost due to a false alarm.
It is known that several different third-party applications cause false positive results that lead to this problem. Comodo and McAfee are among them. If you are using a third party you suspect is responsible for this problem, you must disable real-time protection and see if the problem persists.
Of course, the process varies depending on the security suite you use, but in most cases, you can disable real-time protection directly from the system tray menu.
Restart your device and try to reinstall Office.

Save your work, close all the programs you have opened, and then restart your computer.
Once your computer is restarted, open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, log in to the account associated with Office, and then choose Install.
It appears that desktop applications tend to malfunction when forced to work with proxy servers or private network connections created with VPN clients. They work for the most part, but tend to produce errors when they have to perform sensitive tasks (for example, checking the status of the license).
If you are using a VPN client or proxy server, this is probably the reason you encounter the activation error code 0x4004f00d. If this scenario applies, you should be able to solve the problem by disabling the proxy server (or VPN client) before starting the problematic Office application.
