How to Fix: Unable to Activate Touch ID on This iPhone

To that end, the development of the touch sensor has been a fascinating addition. We used to have to keep and memorize passwords.

But this has its drawbacks. Just because it’s so convenient doesn’t mean that disabling tactile identification could cause massive headaches. If it’s inactive on your iPhone or iPad, you need to keep looking for solutions.

Touch ID is a method of authenticating your identity on an iPhone or iPad. If Touch ID doesn’t work, you won’t be able to use your fingerprint to enter your device, nor will you be able to scan your fingerprint to make purchases in places like the App Store.

If you have already tried to set up a Touch ID on your iPhone or iPad and you cannot complete the setup or scan your fingerprint, read on to see what you can do to make the Touch ID work.

Enable the Touch ID from your iPhone settings.

This is the most straightforward solution in case users cannot activate their Touch ID.

  • Open the Settings application on your iPhone.
  • Find and open the Touch ID and access code.
  • Enter your password.
  • Turn off the iTunes application and restart your iPhone.
  • After rebooting, open the Preferences application again.
  • Turn off iTunes and the App Store.
  • Here you can add a new fingerprint. You must delete the existing fingerprint. Simply press the delete button.
  • Add a new one Do this by placing your finger on the specified area and following the instructions to install it correctly.
  • Your new fingerprint will then be activated.

Restore your iPhone to Factory Defaults with iTunes (all data deleted)

You can correct the “Unable to Activate Touch ID on This iPhone” error by restoring the factory settings. You can do this either by using the preferences application or by restoring the iPhone using iTunes.

Step 1: You need to connect the iPhone to the computer and open iTunes.

Step 2: Enter the password and trust the computer when prompted.

Resetting the Touch ID Account

If you are still unable to activate the Touch ID on the phone after completing the above steps, there is an alternative solution to resolve the inability to activate the Touch ID. You need to reset your Touch ID account.

Step 1: Select the Available Apple menu icon in the upper left corner of your screen.

Step 2: You must select “System Preferences” from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Access the Touch ID setting screen to perform this task.

Step 4: When you place the cursor over your fingerprint, you will see a close icon in the upper left corner. Click the cross icon to delete the existing fingerprint.

Step 5: Immediately after this action, you will be prompted to enter the password.

Step 6: Enter your password and confirm the deletion procedure.

Still not working?

If the previous steps have not helped, you will see “Weak – Cannot complete Touch ID setup” or one of the following occurs when you go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact Apple Support :

  • You cannot enable Touch ID.
  • Touch ID is grayed out
