Everyone has heard about the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) that appears when your Windows PC crashes. But did you know that Windows 10 also has Green Screen of Death?
The green screen of death only appears when you run an Insider Preview version of Windows 10. It’s the same as the blue death screen, and the same error messages are displayed.
In other words, anything that causes a death blue screen in a normal version of Windows 10 will cause a death green screen in a preview version of Windows 10. The only difference is that this screen shows that you are using a “Windows Insider Build” and that it has a green background instead of a blue background.
How to repair Windows 10 Green Screen of Death
The troubleshooting steps for Windows 10 Green Screen of Death are similar to those of the Blue Screen of Death and the Black Screen of Death. Let’s get started right away.
Remove all devices
Make sure that a device is connected to the computer.
Sometimes, an external power cord, mouse, USB stick or digital camera can cause problems and throw your PC on a dead green screen. If this is the case, remove all devices from the PC.
Starting in safe mode
If you cannot access Windows at all due to the GSOD error, enable safe mode:
Restart your computer several times during the boot process to start the automatic repair.
Select Troubleshooting > Advanced Options > Start and click the Restart button.
When your computer restarts, select Safe Mode with Network.
You can also start in safe mode by holding down the Shift key and clicking Restart on the Power Options menu.
Restart your computer
Try restarting your PC three more times while starting the automatic repair, go to Troubleshooting > Advanced Options > Start, then click the Restart button. When your computer restarts, select Safe Mode with Network.
- Simultaneously press Windows + X buttons, go to Device Manager – Display Adapter – Driver – Driver
- Update – Browse my computer to find the driver software and install the latest updates. Restart your PC to check if the green screen appears.
Disable antivirus software
Antivirus software is a kind of useful program to protect Windows against viruses, Trojans, ransom software and other malicious programs. This is why most Windows users have third-party antivirus software on their PCs. The problem is that antivirus software can conflict with new updates of Windows 10 and the activation of green screen computers. The solution is simple: uninstall third-party antivirus software.
