The ProfSvc (User Profile Service) is a Microsoft service that is responsible for loading and unloading the user profile. Sometimes, the ProfSvc can be disabled or blocked.

As a result, users will not be able to connect to their user profile, applications may have problems accessing user data and some components installed to receive notifications about profile events will not actually receive them. Some users have associated the problem with the installation of Windows 10.

The problem occurs when you enter your password and press Enter on the Windows login screen. In general, the error messages “The User Profile service failed on login” and “The User Profile cannot be loaded” are displayed and you return to the login screen.

If you have a second Windows user account to which you can log in, you can use this account to perform the following steps to create a new user account.

However, if there is no other account, start the computer in safe mode (as described below) and try the steps. If this still does not work, restart in safe mode and enable the hidden administrator account.

To do this, type cmd in the search box of the Start menu, right-click on Command prompt in the results list, and choose Run as administrator.

At the command prompt, type the following:

net user administrator /active:yes

The answer should be: The command was successfully executed. Restart your PC now and you should see an administrator account and your corrupted account appear.

Enable built-in administrator account.

  1. Open the high prompt by switching to safe mode with the prompt. To switch to safe mode, use the power switch on the login screen and press Shift + Restart. This will take you to the recovery start menu. Click Troubleshooting > Advanced Options > Start Settings. A list appears in which you can select Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
  2. Type the following command: net user administrator /active:yes and press Enter.
  3. Log in to the integrated administrator user profile and create a new user profile with administrator rights.
  4. Delete the corrupted user account of the integrated administrator.
  5. Then lock your screen by pressing Windows + L and logging into the administrator account.
  6. Check if the problem persists and you can disable the integrated administrator account by typing the command: net user administrator /active:no in the command prompt (Admin).

Restoring the original ProfSvc service under Windows 10

Click on Start
Enter the command prompt as administrator.
Type the following commands in the command window:

sc config ProfSvc start= auto
sc Start ProfSvc

Press Enter
Close the command window.
Restart your computer and check if the problem persists.
