I found a solution here. An application called IconRestorer has been specifically designed to solve this problem of arranging human desktop icons in a standard layout with a single click. Imagine you are looking for a file or a shortcut on the desktop shown below!
IconRestorer is a simple application that allows you to define desktop icons anywhere. Whether people are using your PC and moving your desktop icons from one place to another, you can return to your original layout with a single click. It’s as simple as that!
IconRestorer essentially does two things :
- Save desktop layout
- Restore last saved layout
If you have defined the desktop layout as you wish, click the Save current desktop layout button to save the location of desktop icons and make it a default layout. You can change the location of files and folders at any time; there are no restrictions.
Restore last saved model
Click the Restore last saved model button to immediately restore your favorite structure. Things don’t stop there, there are options under Option1 and Option2 that can be configured to provide a better user experience.
If you enabled the Desktop auto-rearrange option, this application is unlikely to return correct results. You must therefore disable the automatic rearrangement of the desktop by right-clicking and navigating to the Show and uncheck the Automatic Arrangement of Icons checkbox.
If you find this interesting, you can go to the IconRestorer homepage here.
You can also try My Cool Desktop, which allows you to arrange desktop icons in cool shapes easily and quickly, and DesktopOK.
