passwords are something we forget, and the reason is that we tend to create complex and secure passwords that are difficult to remember. In this article, I will explain how create a password reset disk on a USB stick, which makes things easier and helps you recover a lost password if you forget your Windows 10/8/7 computer password.
Create a password reset disk
Step 1: Insert your flash drive into your computer. Then right-click the USB stick and click Format.
Step 2: Open the Control Panel, then click the Open User Accounts applet. Here you will find the link Create Password Reset Disk.
You can also search Password Reset Disk in Start Search and press Enter to open it.
Alternatively, you can open the Run field, enter the following and press Enter to open it directly:
Step 3 : Follow forgotten password wizard.
Step 4 : Click Next and select the USB stick from the drop-down menu. Be sure to use a new one, as it deletes all data when you use existing data.
Step 5: Click Next to start the operation. When the process is complete, click Next again to complete the process.
The password reset diskette is now ready. Let’s see how to use it.
Step 1: After entering the wrong password from the login screen, you will see the Reset Password option, as shown in the figure below.
Step 2: Click the Reset Password option.
Step 3 : Make sure you have reset your USB stick with password and select it from the drop-down menu.
Step 4 : Click Next and you will be prompted to enter and confirm the new password.
Step 5: After confirming the password, click Next and Finish.
When you click Finish, enter your new password and log in.
The same procedure applies to Windows 10/8
Note : This does not work if your computer is connected to a domain; if it is a domain PC, I recommend contacting your network administrator.
