Each computer has a user who is the ultimate boss, called the administrator. Forgetting the administrator’s Windows 10 password can be a big problem. Find out what you need to know about your Windows 10 administrator password and what to do if you lose it.
An administrator is actually just the person responsible for a computer, as in previous versions of Windows. With any Windows 10 device, you can create administrator and default accounts. Standard accounts allow users to use the device and its software without significantly changing it, while administrator accounts allow you to make potentially important changes to your computer and its operation.
For a personal device, it is usually the person who configures the computer who gets an administrator account. In the case of a management device, it is often a person in the IT department or the head of a department to which the computer belongs, depending on your organization’s organizational structure. If someone in a standard account tries to do something that they are not explicitly allowed to do, they are either prevented from doing it completely or they will have to ask for the administrator password depending on the task.
Resetting the Windows 10 administrator password lost with the reset disk
There are many people who do not know how important the characteristics of password-protected hard drives are in Windows 10, or who do not bother to create a password-protected hard drive. If you forget your Windows 10 password and have a reset disk in your hand, resetting the password becomes very easy.
Step 1: First access to the Windows 10 login screen, simply enter your incorrect password and your password will be displayed.
Step 2: Then insert the USB stick password reset disc into your computer and click on the link.
Step 3: The wizard will guide you to reset your password. You can also create a new password for your local user account.
Resetting the password for a Microsoft Windows 10 account
Windows 10 users can start password reset from the login page by selecting “I forgot my password” on the login screen.
The “Retrieve your account” screen will then appear with a captcha, then the “Verify your identity” screen to enter a security code that will be sent to the email address or associated phone number.
Microsoft account holders can also reset their passwords online. Simply visit the Retrieve Your Account page on https://account.live.com/ and follow the instructions.
As you have just seen, there is more than one way to reset a Windows 10 password that has been forgotten or lost for some reason. If you have a high level of technical knowledge, you will be familiar with applications such as Cain & Able or Hash Suite. On the other hand, the average user may not be familiar with the use of such software.
For those of us who want to keep it simple, one of the first three methods is recommended. But if you want the easiest, fastest and most reliable way, the second option is the one you are looking for.
