How to interrupt synchronization in OneDrive on Windows 10

Some of you may not know that you can stop synchronizing files and folders on OneDrive when a download or download takes place. This article explains how to pause and resume synchronization in OneDrive on Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

Synchronization pause in OneDrive

Once you have opened your OneDrive application, synchronization of files and folders on your computer with your OneDrive cloud account begins. If there is not much to do, the process should be quick.

However, if you wish to temporarily interrupt synchronization for any reason, you can do so with OneDrive. You can interrupt OneDrive synchronization for 2, 8 or 24 hours.

To stop OneDrive synchronization, right-click the OneDrive icon in the notification area and you will see an option Stop synchronization. Move your mouse over it and you will see the following options :

  • (2 hours
  • 8 hours
  • 24 hours.

Select the time at which you want to interrupt synchronization and OneDrive will stop the process and change the icon as follows :
