The original iumsvc.exe file is a software component of Intel Corporation’s Intel Services Manager.

The process called “iumsvc.exe” is called both Intel Services Manager and Intel Update Manager. It automatically notifies the user when new software updates are available on Intel servers. It must be located in “C:\Program files\Intel\Intel® Update Manager\bin\bin\”; if it is located in “C:\Windows” or its subfolder “\System32”, it may be a hidden malware. The Windows Task Scheduler configures an automatic start task to run the Connection Update Manager and another that runs daily. If the task scheduler has a’414′ error, the process may be missing. Is iumsvc.exe safe?

Once there, select the Process tab in the horizontal menu, then scroll down to the list of background processes and search for the iumsvc.exe file. Once you have seen it, right-click it and select Open File Location from the new context menu that appears.

If the revealed location differs from C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Update Manager\bin\ or C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Update Manager\bin\ and you have not installed Intel Utility in a custom location, there is a high probability that you are dealing with a malicious executable file.
