Using the PowerShell cmdlet
Your Windows subsystem for Linux (WSL) is not enabled. To enable PowerShell as an administrator, open PowerShell and run the following command:

- Restart your computer when prompted.
CMD Bypass Solution
- Go to the Start menu and search for the prompt.
- Or press CTRL + R and type cmd.
- Enter or copy each line individually:
wslconfig.exe /setdefault kali-rolling
bash
cd
- From now on you can (as a workaround solution) start Kali Linux from the command line. Of course, this is not desirable, but it may be a temporary solution.
- The error message “WslRegisterDistribution failed” is no longer displayed.
