When I opened a PowerShell window today, I realized that it opened normally, but only remained open for a few seconds before shrinking to a very small size. This made the Windows PowerShell font and window too small to read and unusable.

If you experience this problem and your PowerShell font and window are too small to read, you must do the following.
In Windows 8.1, go to the start screen, type powerhell. In the Windows PowerShell result, select Run as administrator immediately after. Once the window opens on your desktop, right-click the blue icon in the upper left corner and select Properties.
Enlarge the font in the Font tab. The default value under Windows 8.1 was 4×6. I changed it to 8×12. It worked for me. The PowerShell window was normal and usable.
If you wish, you can also change the font to make it easier to read. Try Lucida Console and set the size to 16. Maybe it’ll work better.
