The Xbox One Controller is probably the best controller since the Nintendo Game Cube. Because Microsoft makes it compatible with Windows 10, it is currently the best option for players. For many Windows 10 players, this may be the first time they choose a controller, because playing on a PC is more connected to a keyboard and mouse than to a controller.
Just remember that playing with a controller is very different from the traditional method. For example, the keyboard and mouse in First Person Shooters are much more accurate than a controller, although a controller is the preferred choice for racing games.
Connect Microsoft Xbox One Controller to Windows 10
Let’s get right to the point and connect your Xbox One Controller to your Windows 10 computer.
First, download the drivers. The latest drivers are already preinstalled in Windows 10. Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 users must download and install the following drivers. Microsoft makes these drivers available on its support page. You can download 32-bit or 64-bit versions if your computer system matches.
After installing the drivers, connect the controller and it should work properly. In some cases, however, the controller is still wirelessly connected to your Xbox One. To stop this, turn off the console and controller, reconnect the controller to the computer system, and then turn it back on.
Normally, connecting the Xbox One controller to a Windows 10 PC should work without installing the drivers.
Connect the Xbox One controller to a Mac
Microsoft does not have official drivers for Mac, so you may need to use unofficial drivers that do not work properly.
For everything to work, you must download a package called Xone-OSX. It can be downloaded for free from Github. Once installed, simply plug in the controller and start playing all your favorite team games.
Most games on Steam should recognize the Xbox One controller, unless you play one of the weird titles, then no problems should occur.
Connect the Xbox One controller to Linux
Surprisingly, any Linux distribution running version 3.17 or higher should have no problems with the Xbox One controller. Just plug it into your computer and read it.
