Mixed Reality mixes real and virtual content in hybrid environments where physical and digital objects coexist and interact.
If Windows Mixed Reality does not work properly or if you want to free up disk space, you can uninstall it. This will delete the user’s information and reset Windows Mixed Reality to its default settings, but the preinstalled Mixed Reality applications will remain on your computer.
How can I completely delete Windows Mixed Reality?
By deleting entries from the registry
As this method suggests, this can be a dangerous way to walk. However, this is the best way to remove Mixed Reality from Windows 10. Although we can come to that conclusion.
1. Restart your PC and delete the following registry values:
- Remove FirstRunSucceeded from HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionHolographic
- Remove PreferDesktopSpeaker and PreferDesktopMic from HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionHolographicSpeechAndAudio
- Remove DisableSpeechInput from HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftSpeech_OneCoreSettingsHolographic
- Remove DeviceId and Mode from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPerceptionSimulationExtensions
2. To continue, you must delete json from C:Users{username}AppDataLocalPackagesMicrosoft.Windows.HolographicFirstRun_cw5n1h2txyewyLocalState – and this file must be deleted for each user who has used Windows Mixed Reality.
April 2024 Update:

5. Continue and copy the Capacity Identity you see begins with Holographic. Office. If you can’t find it, it means that the file is not installed.
6. In the end, you should restart Windows and this should do the trick.
Show Mixed Reality Settings Page
Step 1 – To restore the Mixed Reality settings page, first open the Registry Editor by typing regedit on Cortana and clicking Enter.
Step 2 – Once the registry editor appears, follow the path in the left sidebar.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Holographic
Step 3 – On the right side of the page, you will see a DWORD FirstRunSucceeded. You can see that the value is set to 0.
The reason for this value is that if your computer is compatible and meets the minimum hardware requirements, Windows 10 will automatically run a configuration wizard and during installation, the value will be set to 1 and the Mixed Reality page will appear in the preference program.
Deleting the Mixed Reality in Windows Settings
- Add the mixed reality to the parameters.
- Open Settings and go to Mixed Reality.
- On the left, select Uninstall.
- Click on the Uninstall button on the right.
Windows 10 may ask you to restart your computer to complete the removal of the Mixed Reality Portal application. Back up your open documents and other important data and uninstall them.
Use a PowerShell command to delete the mixed reality portal.
If you are a heavy user, this method works like a charm.
Open PowerShell with administrative privileges and execute the Delete App package command for the Mixed Reality portal:
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.MixedReality.Portal | Remove-AppxPackage
Once the execution is complete, the mixed reality portal is uninstalled.
