Windows now allows you to force an automatic restart after Windows Updates

CheckSUR: System Update Readiness Tool to repair Windows Update

System resources, such as variable data, registry data and even data in memory, can cause inconsistencies during the life of the operating system. These inconsistencies can be caused by various hardware failures or software problems. In some cases, these inconsistencies may affect the Windows service store and cause a Windows update to fail. If the update fails, the user is prevented from installing updates and service packs.

System update preparation tool

System update preparation tool or CheckSUR corrects this problem. These updates include the Check for System Update Readiness (CheckSUR) tool (CheckSUR). The CheckSUR tool checks your computer for inconsistencies and corrects them during installation. Please note that the analysis may take up to 15 minutes or more on some computers. Even if the progress bar seems to stop, scanning will continue, so don’t give up. read more

How to convert MBR to GPT drive in Windows 10/8/7

The partition table GUID (GPT) was introduced as part of the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI). GPT offers more options than the traditional MBR partitioning method commonly used in PCs. If you have a large hard disk, you can convert MBR to GPT. This is because MBR disks only support four partition table entries. If you want more partitions, you must create a secondary structure called an extended partition.

So for each hard disk over 2 TB, we must use a GPT partition. If you have a hard disk larger than 2 TB, the remaining disk space will not be used unless you convert it to GPT. The number of partitions on a GPT disk is not limited by temporary schemes, such as container partitions defined by the MBR Extended Boot Record (EBR). read more

A double shot: Missing Windows Installer Cache Files

The Windows Installer Cache Folder is a system folder hidden under C:WindowsInstaller. When you install software using Windows Installer, a copy of the changed system information is stored in this folder. The Windows Installer cache contains stored copies of installed updates applied by the installer.

This information is necessary if you later decide to uninstall the software. This information is not stored as complete files, but simply as a trigger MSI. If you delete some files or folders, you probably won’t be able to uninstall, repair or even update the program with Windows Installer. Therefore, you should never delete the contents of the Windows Installer folder. read more
